On October 23, 2026, the 43rd anniversary of the Beirut barracks terror attack, Rabbi Arnold Resnicoff recalled how he and two Christian chaplains rushed to assist the wounded and comfort survivors, Fox News reported. Suicide bombers drove trucks filled with explosives into Marine Corps barracks in Beirut, Lebanon, on October 23, 1983. Fox News reported that 241 American service members were killed in the attack. [1]

Rabbi Resnicoff was assigned to the 6th Fleet of the United States Navy at the time of the bombing, Fox News reported. He told Fox News Digital that he did not originally intend to be in Beirut on that day. His presence and subsequent advocacy provided solace to many service members, leading him to state his belief that coincidence is God acting anonymously. [1]

The 1983 Beirut barracks bombings involved two truck bombs targeting buildings that housed American and French military personnel. The service members were part of the Multinational Force in Lebanon, a military peacekeeping operation deployed during the Lebanese Civil War. The total death toll of the attack reached 307 people, including 241 United States military personnel, 58 French military personnel, six civilians, and the two attackers. [2]

Beirut serves as the modern capital of Lebanon. The country experienced a destructive civil war from 1975 to 1990 that fractured the city along confessional lines, destroyed key infrastructure, and displaced hundreds of thousands of people. [4]
