Euronews reported that QatarEnergy has secured a 3 billion dollar loan, equivalent to 2.68 billion euros, from Chinese banks. The financing comes as war damage and shipping risks constrain natural gas exports. While shipments through the Strait of Hormuz are recovering, they remain well below pre-war levels. [1]
QatarEnergy LNG is the world largest liquefied natural gas company, producing 77 million metric tonnes annually from seven ventures headquartered in Doha, Qatar. Natural gas is supplied to its production units from the North Field, which is the world largest non-associated gas field. The company reaches markets primarily via ships traveling through the Strait of Hormuz. [6]
Chief executive officer and Minister of State for Energy Affairs Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi previously confirmed progress on the expansion efforts. The project aims to restore and expand global energy supplies following recent regional trade disruptions. [1]
