Polish police have increased their presence at educational institutions and detained a 17-year-old following social media threats of planned school attacks, Euronews and AOL.com report. The warnings circulated online ahead of Friday 9 October, promoting claims of a so-called bloody Friday. [1][2]

According to Euronews, screenshots and recordings warning about the alleged attacks spread widely among pupils and parents on Thursday. Police stated that they are monitoring the situation and will deploy officers directly to schools that are considered to be at risk. [1]

Euronews reported that several towns in the Mazovia region of Poland cancelled on-site classes in response to the online threats. The warnings emerged following a series of other serious incidents in the country. [1]
