Police Scotland has suspended 63 staff members because of ongoing criminal investigations, according to BBC News. Up to 50 of the suspended officers face allegations involving crimes against women. Chief Constable Jo Farrell stated that more officers are likely to be suspended as the force continues to re-vet its personnel. [1][2]

The suspended staff members include 45 constables, six sergeants, and two inspectors, BBC News reported. The exact nature of each individual case has not been disclosed by the force. Data detailing the suspensions was released by Police Scotland following a freedom of information request. [1]

Between 300 and 400 officers have undergone re-vetting under new rules, according to BBC News. Chief Constable Farrell stated that the updated vetting regime was introduced after the murder of Sarah Everard by Metropolitan Police officer Wayne Couzens. She added that the new rules make it easier to exit individuals who are unsuitable to serve. [1]
