One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has unveiled plans to reverse tax changes made by the Labor government, the Daily Mail reported. Under the proposal, One Nation would bring back the full 50 per cent capital gains tax discount and scrap a planned 30 per cent minimum tax rate on trusts. [1]
The Daily Mail reported that the plan would also protect negative gearing tax concessions, but only for Australians who own no more than two investment properties. Hanson criticized generous tax concessions enjoyed by property tycoons and stated that Australians should be allowed to work hard and invest. [1]
Hanson has served as a senator for Queensland since 2016 and was previously a member of the Australian Parliament for the Queensland division of Oxley from 1996 to 1998. She entered local politics in 1994 as an Ipswich City Councillor before founding One Nation in 1997. [4][7]
As FTMQ News reported earlier, Australian Treasurer Jim Chalmers recently urged progressives not to mock supporters of the right-wing One Nation party following sustained strength in political polling. [9]
In short
- One Nation proposes restoring the full 50 per cent capital gains tax discount.
- The tax plan would limit negative gearing concessions to individuals with no more than two investment properties.
