Tetiana Hasanenko, the head of the Oleshky city military administration, told Euronews that residents in the occupied Ukrainian town are facing spreading hunger under Russian rule. Hasanenko stated that people are surviving on one meal a day and risking their lives on a route known as the road of death to find food. Her warning comes as pressure mounts on Ukraine to make territorial concessions to Russia in peace negotiations. [1]
Hasanenko warned that the experiences of Ukrainian communities living under Moscow's control should not be ignored during settlement talks. She stated that the population of the town in the southern Kherson region has endured more than four years of Russian occupation. [1]
Oleshky is situated in the Kherson Raion of Kherson Oblast in southern Ukraine, located on the left bank of the Dnieper River. It is the oldest city in the oblast, positioned near the regional capital of Kherson, and previously had a population of 24,124 people. The city serves as the administrative center of the Oleshky urban hromada. [3][6]
