Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a video in Hebrew on Sunday warning Iran against attempting to attack Israel or disrupt its upcoming parliamentary elections on Tuesday, October 27. The Washington Examiner and the South China Morning Post reported that Netanyahu warned Tehran, "Don't test us." The Washington Examiner added that Netanyahu claimed to have intelligence indicating Tehran plans to disrupt the vote. [1][2][14]

The South China Morning Post noted that Netanyahu has campaigned heavily on his security credentials, highlighting the war he launched against Iran in February alongside the United States. CBS News reported that the vote on Tuesday will be the first parliamentary election in Israel since the terror attacks on October 7, 2023. [2][3][4]

Demonstrators gathered in Tel Aviv on the weekend before the election to protest against the government. CBS News and Al Jazeera reported that thousands of Israelis rallied against Netanyahu, with CBS News noting that protesters demanded accountability for the failures that led to the 2023 attacks. [3][5]

Netanyahu has served as prime minister of Israel since 2022 and previously held the office from 1996 to 1999 and from 2009 to 2021, making him the longest-serving prime minister in the history of the country. As FTMQ News reported earlier, United States President Donald Trump endorsed Netanyahu ahead of the vote. [1][12][14]
