Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El Sayed faced criticism after past comments resurfaced regarding a United States drone strike, Fox News reported. According to Fox News, El Sayed accused former President Joe Biden of using the operation to boost his political standing before midterm elections. [1]
The criticism centers on the August 1, 2022, drone strike that killed Ayman al Zawahiri. Fox News reported that Biden announced the operation at the time, noting that al Zawahiri was deeply involved in planning the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks that killed 2,977 people in the United States. Headlines from KSLM Radio, freebeacon.com, and Townhall indicate that El Sayed previously referred to the drone strike as troubling and a fig leaf. [1][5][6][7]
In additional reports, PJ Media noted that El Sayed compared the January 6 event to jihad dictatorships while critiquing the operation against the September 11 planner. Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. served as the 46th president of the United States from 2021 to 2025. [8][9]
As FTMQ News reported earlier, El Sayed is the Democratic nominee for the 2026 United States Senate election in Michigan, where he faces Republican Mike Rogers. [13]
