Radio Kerry reported that Irish politician Michael Healy-Rae has thanked the public for their kindness and support following an alleged assault. In connection with the incident, 51-year-old Anthony Foley of Rosary Road, Maryland, Dublin, was charged with assault causing harm and remanded in custody. [1]
Radio Kerry also reported that Deputy Healy-Rae warned that work to rule action by public sector workers is causing a detrimental knock-on effect to the works programme of Kerry County Council. The trade unions involved in the pay parity and inflation dispute include SIPTU, Fórsa, the INMO, the ASTI, and the INTO. Healy-Rae was born on 9 January 1967 in Kilgarvan, County Kerry. He has served as an independent Teachta Dála for the Kerry constituency since 2016, having previously represented Kerry South from 2011 to 2016. He also served as Minister of State from January 2025 until his resignation in April 2026. [2][3]
Radio Kerry reported that Deputy Healy-Rae believes the dispute must be resolved quickly before it causes further disruption, noting that road improvement projects in Kerry have already faced delays. [1]
