Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley has stated he is deeply worried about the Labour government early release of domestic abusers and stalkers from prison. Speaking to LBC radio on October 8, 2026, the police chief described the release of obsessive and repeat violent offenders as a very difficult problem for law enforcement. [1]
The Daily Mail reported that public fears for the safety of victims continue to rise as a result of the scheme. Sir Mark Rowley warned that relying on electronic tags to monitor freed criminals is failing to prevent further offenses. [1]
