A German shepherd that wandered away from its home walked directly up to a police station in Tampa, Florida, on September 30. Security cameras captured the lost dog strolling to the front doors, where an officer opened the door to greet it, the New York Post reported. [1]

The Tampa Police Department joked in a statement that the four-legged visitor was ready to join the team, but explained that their K-9 roster was full. The officer took charge of the dog and made sure the hopeful recruit was safely returned to its emotional owner, according to the New York Post. [1]

Florida is a state in the Southeastern region of the United States. It is the third most populous state in the nation and shares borders with both the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. [2]

The Tampa Police Department said the lost dog did not get the job, but added that the animal stole their hearts during its brief visit to the station, the New York Post reported. [1]
