Wastewater workers in Sheffield, Alabama, found a class ring from 1965 while clearing a clogged sewer main and returned it to its owner, UPI reported. The owner had not seen the ring for decades. [1]

Junior Riner, an operator at the Sheffield Wastewater Plant, said his crew brought the ring to him after discovering it during the cleaning operation, according to UPI. The ring belonged to a graduate of Burrell-Slater High School and bore the initials OJM. [1]

UPI reported that Riner researched the school and learned that the institution for Black students closed in Florence, Alabama, in 1969 during integration. Riner then located a Facebook group for alumni and posted a picture of the ring to find its rightful owner. [1]
