Lisbon wins best European city and cruise destination awards for 2026
Lisbon earned two awards at the World Travel Awards Europe 2026 ceremony in Montenegro after receiving recognition for its city and cruise appeal.

Lisbon has been named Europe's best city destination and best cruise destination at the World Travel Awards Europe 2026, Euronews reported. The accolades were presented on Saturday, 17 October, during a ceremony held in Kotor Bay, Montenegro. The Portugal News also reported on Lisbon winning the cruise destination title. [1][3]
The Lisbon Tourism Association stated that the awards recognise the international appeal and diversity of the tourism offered by the Portuguese capital, Euronews reported. António Valle, the director-general of the association, emphasised the importance of the national awards. [1]
The latest recognition comes shortly after Lisbon secured second place in the Condé Nast Traveller Readers' Choice Awards 2026 for Europe's friendliest city, as FTMQ News reported earlier. In that ranking, Porto took the top spot ahead of Lisbon. [6]
