Late Paul O Connor tied to past armed robbery gang

The Irish Examiner reported that 56-year-old Paul 'Bosco' O'Connor, who was found dead near Mallow in County Cork, was a suspected member of an armed robbery gang. The gang stole from homes and businesses at gunpoint during the 1990s and 2000s. [1]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, Mr O'Connor was found dead on Thursday afternoon at 1.30pm along the banks of the River Blackwater at Ballyellis. He had travelled by train from Kent station in Cork city to Mallow on the previous Wednesday evening. [3][4]

According to the Irish Examiner, Mr O'Connor was originally from Connolly Road in Ballymillis on the southside of Cork City. He had a history of long-term drug abuse, and his life had reportedly fallen apart prior to his death. [1]

As reported by FTMQ News, Gardaí suspect that the shooting was a professional execution-style killing. Police arrested a man in his 30s on Monday evening in connection with the murder investigation. [3][4]

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and camera footage recorded near the Waste Water treatment plant in Ballyellis to assist their ongoing inquiries. [3]
