An Indian court released Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the Cockroach Janta Party, on Saturday, October 17, one day after his detention. DW and The Times of India both reported that Dipke was granted bail after being held for attempting to lead a protest rally in New Delhi. The movement published a photograph of Dipke on X, calling him a free man. [1][6]

The release came with legal stipulations. DW and The Times of India both reported that the court set specific conditions for his release. Ratna Singh, the head of legal affairs for the party, confirmed the release conditions to DW, though she did not provide further details about the terms. [1][6]

The enforcement actions extended to other demonstrators as well. DW reported that Neha Bora, a prominent student activist and the face of the protests, was also detained on Friday while attempting to reach central Delhi. [1]

Abhijeet Dipke is a Dalit and a follower of B.R. Ambedkar who worked with the social media team of the Aam Aadmi Party and served as a communications adviser to the Delhi government education department. He founded the political satire movement Cockroach Janta Party on May 16, 2026, as FTMQ News reported earlier. The group organized demonstrations, including a June 2026 protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, and previously faced a police crackdown that led to more than 2,000 detentions. [7][9]
