A council inspector shut down a free weekly sausage sizzle hosted by a Gold Coast butcher because it lacked proper permits, the Daily Mail reported. Maaki Tyson, the co-owner of Lakeside Quality Meats in Palm Beach, was told he was running the community event without required authorization. [1]

According to the Daily Mail, Mr Tyson stated that the inspector confronted him about missing documentation. The inspector told Mr Tyson that he did not have a permit for the barbecue, roadside dining, or table setup. [1]

The Daily Mail reported that Mr Tyson claims he was told to brace for a fine of up to $1,600 following the shutdown. He told news.com.au that the decision felt wrong to him and many of his customers. [1]

Australia and New Zealand share a wide variety of cultural dishes and traditions due to their shared colonial ties and publications. [2]
