A massive El Nino weather phenomenon is continuing to intensify in the Pacific Ocean, Euronews reported on Saturday. The report stated that 2026 could become history for hosting what might be the largest El Nino in living memory, as nations prepare for extreme weather conditions. [1]

The natural phenomenon occurs irregularly every two to seven years when sea temperatures in the Eastern Pacific Ocean grow unusually warm. Experts began warning early this year that a strong event could form due to subsurface ocean heat and weakening low-level trade winds. [1]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, the World Meteorological Organization declared the onset of the current El Nino on June 2, 2026. France 24 previously reported that the event could be among the strongest recorded since at least 1950. [1][2]

The United Nations previously warned that the super El Nino will continue to intensify and peak in December, with the event expected to last through early 2027. [2]
