Donegal Gaelic footballer Finnbarr Roarty has signed a two-year rookie contract with Australian Football League club Collingwood, the Irish Examiner reported. The 20-year-old player will move to Australia at the end of October 2026 to join the Melbourne-based club, which finished in ninth place in the recent Premiership season. [1]
Before travelling to Australia, the 2025 Young Footballer of the Year is scheduled to play for his club Naomh Conaill. The team faces St Eunan's in the Donegal Senior Football Championship final in Ballybofey on Sunday. [1]
Roarty previously captained the Donegal Minor and Under-20 teams before making his senior inter-county debut against Armagh shortly before turning 18. That early appearance resulted in a two-week suspension for Roarty and an eight-week suspension for manager Jim McGuinness, although the manager's penalty was later overturned. Roarty later played his first National League match for Donegal as a corner-back against Dublin at MacCumhaill Park in 2025. [1][5]
