A former Cornell University student suing seven fraternity members has faced multiple swatting incidents and threats at her family home, according to reporting by the Daily Mail. The woman, referred to in legal filings as Jane Doe, had her family home targeted by anonymous emergency calls after filing her civil lawsuit in late September 2026. In one incident, police held her brother and boyfriend at gunpoint after a false caller claimed an active shooter was at the residence. [1]

The legal action follows an alleged incident in October 2024 at the Chi Phi fraternity house near the Ithaca campus of Cornell University in upstate New York. The Daily Mail and gript.ie both report that the woman alleged she was drugged and raped by multiple fraternity brothers during a party. The lawsuit named seven members of the Chi Phi fraternity, who have become known as the Cornell 7. [1][2][4]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, the plaintiff filed her civil lawsuit on September 16, 2026, targeting Cornell University, its Chi Phi chapter, seven student members, and her sorority, Delta Delta Delta. Tompkins County District Attorney Matthew Van Houten previously decided against filing criminal charges following an initial police investigation. [4][5][6]

Following the swatting incidents, the Daily Mail reported that the accuser papered over the windows of her family home to prevent people from looking inside. The outlet noted that the fake reports to law enforcement occurred shortly after her civil lawsuit became public. [1]
