British police arrest seventh man over RAF Fairford security incident

British counter-terrorism officers have arrested a seventh man following a security incident near an airbase used by the United States military in Gloucestershire.

British police have arrested a seventh man over a major security incident at RAF Fairford, a military airbase used by the United States, France 24 reported on Tuesday. As FTMQ News reported earlier, counter-terrorism officers arrested a 22-year-old British national in Westminster, London, on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts. [1][4][5]

The arrest follows the withdrawal of American B-1 bombers from the airbase in Gloucestershire. France 24 reported that United States President Donald Trump said the military withdrew the bombers due to threats. FTMQ News previously reported that at least 10 B-1 bombers were pulled from the site on Sunday. [1][4][5]

The incident near the airbase previously led to the arrests of several other suspects. As FTMQ News reported earlier, five men were originally arrested under the Explosives Act and Terrorism Act in Whelford on 27 September, and six men previously arrested in connection with the incident have been released on bail. [4][5]

France 24 reported that the British airbase is used by the United States to launch strikes on Iran. [1]
