British counter-terrorism officers have arrested a 22-year-old British national in Westminster, London, on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts. Al Jazeera reported that the arrest is linked to an incident at RAF Fairford, an airbase in Gloucestershire used by the United States military. [1][3]
As FTMQ News reported earlier, the arrest is the seventh made in connection with the security incident near the base. Six other men who were previously arrested over the matter have since been released on bail. [3]
The initial arrests took place on 27 September 2026, when five men were detained by Gloucestershire Constabulary in Whelford, a village near the base. The men were held on suspicion of offences under the Explosives Act 1875 and the Terrorism Act 2006. [2][4]
Following the threats, the United States completed the withdrawal of its military aircraft from the airbase on Sunday, including at least 10 American B-1 bombers. Al Jazeera noted that United States President Donald Trump said the bombers were pulled due to threats, while Sky News reported that the action followed a reported threat of a possible Iranian drone attack.
