A student who stabbed his housemate more than 30 times in a masked ambush has changed his plea to guilty during a trial at Bristol Crown Court, BBC News reported. Zack Coughlan, aged 23, admitted to murdering 21-year-old Jamie Collins after initially denying the charge. [1]

BBC News reported that Coughlan attacked Collins in an alleyway near the garden of their home on 8 April. Collins was ambushed and killed after he returned home from university. Coughlan then left the body outside for eight hours before calling the police. [1]

According to BBC News, a murder trial was under way because Coughlan had previously admitted to killing Collins but denied murder. Coughlan told jurors that he stabbed his housemate because he feared Collins would kill him following a dispute. [1]
