Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has demanded criminal investigations into about two dozen anonymous Israeli soldiers and intelligence officers who appeared in the documentary film NAZA, UPI reported. The Israeli leader made the demand on social media on Sunday, according to UPI. Headlines from ABC News, Israel National News, and Haaretz also reported that Netanyahu called for probes into those involved in the film. [1][3][4][5]
According to UPI, Netanyahu asked the chief of the General Staff, the head of the Shin Bet, and the attorney general to launch a comprehensive investigation into the participants. Netanyahu stated that those who took part should be brought to trial for serious information security offenses, criminal defamation, and harming the political and security interests of Israel. [1]
The documentary examines civilian deaths caused by the Israeli military offensive in Gaza, UPI reported. As FTMQ News reported earlier, the film was directed by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor and was produced by the Guardian and JW Films. The title of the film comes from a Hebrew military term for collateral damage, and the project previously won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival. [1][9]
