The Australian cricket team is facing defeat against South Africa on day four of the second Test after a poor performance, BBC News reported. Australia was bowled out for 99 runs in their first innings. The result handed South Africa an opportunity to win the match and level the series. [1]

The performance saw Australia concede its largest first-innings lead since 1984, according to BBC News. Australia was forced to follow-on in an away Test for the first time since the 2005 Ashes match in Nottingham. It marked only the second time Australia has been asked to follow-on anywhere in the world in 38 years. [1]

BBC News reported that Travis Head remained 87 not out during the second innings on day four. However, the outlet noted that several Australian players are now playing for their careers following the team's calamitous performance. [1]
