A conservative legal advocacy group has requested that the Civil Rights Division of the Justice Department investigate Democratic Senator Elissa Slotkin of Michigan, according to the Washington Examiner. The request follows remarks made by Slotkin regarding individuals connected to the administration of President Donald Trump. Slotkin spoke about pursuing people associated with the administration and deterring young professionals from joining it. [1]
The request was submitted in a letter on Wednesday by Mike Davis, who is the founder and president of the Article III Project, the Washington Examiner reported. Davis is a conservative advocate and a close ally of Donald Trump. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Slotkin previously faced criticism after making comments at a University of Chicago event on October 13 about prosecuting individuals who enabled Trump to send a deterrence message to young people. [1][11]
In response to the criticism, Slotkin accused Trump of weaponizing the government after the president stated that she should be tried, Yahoo reported. Reports from 2paragraphs and Yahoo noted that Slotkin expressed a desire to send a deterrence message regarding Trump hires, which led Trump to call her a lowlife. [7][8]
Slotkin has served as the junior United States senator from Michigan since 2025. Prior to her election to the Senate, she served in the United States House of Representatives from 2019 to 2025 and previously worked as an official in the Department of Defense. [9]
