The Washington Examiner reported that the abandoned Miramar campus in Los Angeles sits empty while suffering from water damage, char marks from fires, and holes in its walls. The site was built for $34 million to house a small charter high school that served hundreds of students. [1]

According to the Washington Examiner, the charter school failed to break even as the population of school-age children in Los Angeles declined. The Los Angeles Unified School District is currently paying $20,000 every month to maintain security at the vacant site. [1]

California entered the Union as the 31st state on September 9, 1850. The state reached a gross domestic product of $4.1 trillion in 2025 through major industries such as technology, entertainment, and agriculture. [3]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, public spending and state projects have drawn political scrutiny. In October 2026, Republican gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton proposed canceling California's high-speed rail line and naming it a monument to government failure. [4]
