Emergency services responded to a serious incident at the tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park on Saturday afternoon. BBC News and Rayo both reported that the wildlife park near Doncaster was closed following the event. BBC News stated that emergency response procedures were immediately activated, and the park announced it will remain closed for the rest of the weekend. [1][2][3][4]

Yorkshire Ambulance Service received a call at 13:33 BST and dispatched an air ambulance, two land ambulances, and a doctor to the scene, according to BBC News. The Star and Yorkshire Live both reported that shots were fired inside the enclosure during the incident, with The Star adding that the venue was evacuated and the tiger enclosure was covered with tarpaulin. Yorkshire Wildlife Park is a zoo and wildlife conservation centre located south-east of Doncaster in South Yorkshire. It opened in April 2009 on the site of a former riding school and petting zoo, and introduced its Land of the Tigers exhibit in 2011. [7][9]

BBC News reported that park officials stated they are working closely with authorities to ascertain exactly what happened. The park added that the safety and wellbeing of its visitors, staff, and animals remain a priority, while BBC News contacted South Yorkshire Police for further details. [1]
