European Union countries lose an estimated 59.3 billion euros every year in tax revenue because multinational companies shift profits across borders, Euronews reported on Thursday. The Tax Justice Network links about eight billion euros of those lost funds directly to the United Kingdom and its network of tax havens. [1]

The Tax Justice Network estimates that the UK, along with its Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies, is responsible for 13.6 percent of the total tax revenue lost by EU nations. The UK tax haven network also accounts for more than 30 percent of global corporate tax losses overall, according to Euronews. [1]

The report highlights a complex dynamic, as the UK itself ranks among the countries worldwide that lose the most tax revenue to corporate profit shifting. As FTMQ News reported earlier, international policy and financial tax structures remain under heavy political scrutiny globally. [1][2]
