The seven-month mission is scheduled to begin on 1 December, according to Euronews. Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson announced that Sweden will take over the security tasks currently managed by the Netherlands. The Swedish regiment will guard the logistics center against aerial threats, including rockets and unmanned drones. [1]
Colonel Sofia Westermark, who serves as the commander of the Swedish air defence regiment, described the operation as the most complex mission Sweden has taken on since joining NATO, Euronews reported. She noted that the logistics location remains exposed to ongoing air threats. [1]
The MIM-104 Patriot is a surface-to-air missile system produced by the United States defence contractor Raytheon, which serves as the main high to medium air defence system for the United States Army and allied nations. [12]
