Actor Robert Pattinson presented his latest film, Primetime, at the London Film Festival on Sunday night at the BFI Imax. BBC News and Variety reported that the A24 psychological thriller stars Pattinson as the real life host of the American television show To Catch a Predator. The television series, which aired from 2004 to 2007, involved hunting alleged child abusers. [1][2][8]

According to the Belfast Telegraph and the London Evening Standard, Pattinson stated that the film is not an indictment of television host Chris Hansen. Deadline reported that the actor approached his portrayal of the NBC journalist as a fan. Variety noted that Pattinson recalled the script feeling original, funny, dangerous, and like a grenade when he decided to join the project. [1][2][4][5][6][8]

Pattinson told BBC News at the screening that the film's plot is particularly concerning, describing it as the most terrifying thing that can happen to you, whether you are a parent or not. The British actor became a father almost three years ago, BBC News noted. Pattinson is known for starring in major studio productions and independent films, and Time named him among the 100 most influential people in the world in 2010. [1][3][7]

The psychological thriller Primetime was directed by Lance Oppenheim from a screenplay written by Ajon Singh. The film dramatizes the production of the reality television series where NBC journalist Chris Hansen worked alongside the vigilante group Perverted-Justice to catch child predators in sting operations. Supporting roles in the film are played by Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, and Phoebe Bridgers. [8]
