Australian democracy activist Tran Hiep is being held in a political prison in Vietnam after going missing three weeks ago, the Daily Mail reported. According to consular correspondence sent to his wife Chloe Dang on October 8, 2026, he is being detained at the B34 Detention Centre of the Ministry of Public Security in Ho Chi Minh City. [1]

The Daily Mail reported that Vietnamese authorities sent a consular note stating that Tran Hiep is in good health. The note added that he is being detained in accordance with local regulations. [1]
