Dr. Mehmet Oz, the Administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, visited senior care centers in Flushing, Queens, to deliver warning letters during a federal probe into alleged Medicaid fraud. The Daily Mail reported that Oz alleged the Chinese mafia might be orchestrating fraud rings through the facilities. Oz described one of the locations as a clubhouse for crime. [1]
Federal officials conducted more than 80 visits to facilities as part of the multi-agency operation, with Oz personally participating in two of them. The Daily Mail reported that the visits occurred on the same day President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance announced a 25 million dollar public whistleblower program aimed at uncovering government fraud. [1]
The action follows other recent federal efforts to target Medicaid spending. As FTMQ News reported earlier, federal officials deferred 1.2 billion dollars in Medicaid funding to California over concerns regarding spending growth and suspected fraud, an action announced by Oz on behalf of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy. [5]
