French President Emmanuel Macron has returned to Paris following a trip to the Gulf states and blamed organized ultra-left groups for recent violent riots, the Washington Examiner reported. As FTMQ News reported earlier, protests originally began in Creteil on 18 September 2026 over rising fuel prices and the cost of living. [1][9][10][11]

The Washington Examiner reported that Macron secured an agreement during his Middle East visit that will supply France with an additional 200,000 metric tons of diesel per month. However, the outlet noted that the timing of the trip was counterproductive for projecting control while violent and destructive riots occurred at home. [1]

According to the New York Post, left-wing factions and student groups are preparing major demonstrations in Paris for Saturday. The Gilets Jaunes, or Yellow Vests movement, submitted plans on Wednesday for a march through central Paris in areas that recently experienced looting and vandalism, the New York Post said. [2]

The New York Post reported that Macron vowed that individuals attempting to cause disorder in city centers on Saturday will be prevented from doing so. Protests have been banned in parts of Paris, DW.com, Le Monde, and Arab News reported. [2][4][6][8]

Emmanuel Macron has served as President of France since 2017. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Macron is expected to decide on concrete security measures regarding demonstrations on Friday. [9][12]
