According to Fox News, the medical emergency coincided with a major career opportunity. Manganiello received an offer in 2016 to play the main villain, Deathstroke, in Ben Affleck's canceled Batman film. He stated that the call came roughly a month after he left the hospital following a collapse on another film set, writing in his memoir that he was dying at the time he was offered the role. [1]
