European Union ambassadors in Brussels agreed on Wednesday to add 1,646 individuals and entities to the bloc's Russia sanctions list, Euronews reported. The action marks the single largest expansion of the EU sanctions list against Russia. [1]

According to Euronews, the agreed sanctions package covers 743 individuals and 826 entities accused of supporting the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Moscow. The decision comes amid an unsettling rise in hybrid attacks. [1]

Euronews also reported that the sanctions separately target 77 lawmakers who stood for the State Duma election in September in the Russian occupied territories of Ukraine. [1]

In the United States, Congress passed the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026. The legislation gives the president options to impose extensive new tariffs and sanctions on Russia and nations purchasing Russian energy products. [2]
