Bucky Irving leads Tampa Bay Buccaneers to victory against Dallas Cowboys

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers secured their first victory of the 2026 season with a 24-16 victory against the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington, Texas.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Dallas Cowboys 24-16 on Thursday night in Arlington, Texas, to secure their first victory of the 2026 season. UPI and BBC Sport both reported that running back Bucky Irving scored two touchdowns during the game to help lead Tampa Bay to the win. [1][2]

Irving rushed for a career-high 165 yards, according to the Guardian and UPI. According to UPI, the Buccaneers scored 17 points in the third quarter and capitalized on three turnovers committed by the Cowboys. The Guardian reported that Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott threw two interceptions during the loss, dropping the Cowboys to a 2-3 record. [1][3]

Rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels made his second NFL start while filling in for injured franchise quarterback Baker Mayfield, the Guardian reported. UPI said Daniels completed 19 of 25 passes for 189 yards and a touchdown to earn his first career NFL win. Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said he thought Daniels did an excellent job of taking care of the football. [1][3]

Prior to the game, CBS Sports reported that the Cowboys held a 13-2 all-time home record against the Buccaneers. CBS Sports also reported before kickoff that Dallas played without cornerback Joey Porter Jr., who was ruled out for his second game with the team after being acquired in a trade from Pittsburgh.
