Bruce Blakeman attacks Kathy Hochul over Cornell assault probe in debate

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman criticized New York Governor Kathy Hochul during a contentious New York gubernatorial debate, the New York Post reported. Blakeman accused Hochul of failing to act in her capacity as a trustee at Cornell University after a local district attorney dropped a sexual assault case. [1]

Blakeman questioned Hochul about her actions as a university trustee and noted that the state funds Cornell University to the tune of $150 million a year, according to the New York Post. He charged that Hochul had already prejudged the case. [1]

The allegations involve a civil lawsuit filed by a woman known as Jane Doe against seven fraternity brothers, the Daily Mail reported. She accused the men of raping her on October 19, 2024, when she was incapacitated. The Daily Mail also reported that two new witnesses spoke with investigators, claiming the accuser did not appear drunk or distressed after the alleged incident. [2][3]
