AC Milan and Inter will play on Saturday in a match broadcast live on the BBC, according to BBC Sport. The upcoming fixture between the two rivals features memories of an iconic photograph taken 21 years ago during a derby match. The photo shows Marco Materazzi of Inter leaning on Rui Costa of AC Milan while watching red smoke and flares on the pitch. [1]

Photographer Stefano Rellandini captured the famous image of the two players side by side, BBC Sport reported. Rellandini described the moment as a contrast between Materazzi, who was known for his physical play style, and the elegant Costa who possessed a gentle and artistic style of football. [1]

Off the pitch, both clubs have agreed on plans for a new shared venue. According to the New York Times, AC Milan and Inter have struck a naming rights deal that will see the new arena called Generali Stadium. The Guardian reported that both clubs have unveiled plans for this new shared stadium to replace their current home, the San Siro. [2][3]

AC Milan was founded in 1899 and competes in Serie A, the top division of Italian football. The club moved to the San Siro in 1926 and has shared the venue with Inter Milan since 1947. According to Wikipedia, the San Siro has a total capacity of 75,817, while Grokipedia lists the venue capacity at 75,023. Grokipedia notes that both clubs jointly purchased the stadium from the City of Milan for 197 million euros in November 2025 to pave the way for a new 71,500-seat facility. [8][9]
